Psalm 23

In Psalm 23, David writes with beautiful imagery, recalling his early life as a shepherd. In the ways he had cared for sheep, providing for all of their needs, he describes the Lord caring for him. This analogy extends from sheep, to David, to us because, though sheep are needy, we are even needier and yet, the Lord provides for all of our needs. Beyond our physiological needs and needs for safety and belonging, the Lord provides for our spiritual needs. He created us, sustains us, and interacts with us in this life and will dwell with us in the life to come. Do we recognize that He is the origin of all provision and beauty?
