09 Wisdom for an Unpredictable Life
Mar 15, 2026 • Rich Millhouse
Life rarely unfolds according to our plans. In Ecclesiastes 7, the Teacher confronts our assumption that life can be controlled through careful planning, moral effort, or human wisdom. Instead, he shows us that hardship often becomes the classroom where wisdom grows, our righteousness cannot guarantee outcomes, and even our best wisdom cannot fully explain life.
Rather than leading us to despair, Ecclesiastes invites us to humility and trust. When we stop trying to master life and start trusting the God who governs it, wisdom begins to grow. And the gospel reminds us that the wisdom we cannot achieve has come to us in Jesus Christ, the wisdom of God, who entered the brokenness of life to bring redemption and hope.
