04 When The World Isn't Right

Feb 1, 2026    Rich Millhouse

When the World Isn’t Right names the ache we all feel when life under the sun falls short. Ecclesiastes 3:16–4:6 honestly exposes injustice, unchecked power, and exhausting work—without minimizing the pain or silencing our outrage. It also reveals our false responses: striving to secure meaning through success or withdrawing to protect ourselves from hurt. Both promise control but deliver emptiness. The Preacher offers a better way—“a handful of quietness”—faithful living marked by contented trust rather than anxious control. Ultimately, Ecclesiastes points beyond itself to Jesus Christ, who enters our injustice, bears our burdens, and offers true rest to weary hearts.
