Congregational Request for Deacon Nominations

Would you please take a moment to help us?

Danube International Church is in the process of selecting men to serve as deacons.  This is important to the life of the church, as the deacons lead in areas that touch all of us in practical ways.

As we consider who in the congregation we should ask to serve, we would like to know if there is someone whom you would like to nominate as a potential candidate.  If so, please review the deacon qualifications below (taken from 1 Timothy 3:8-12) and then click on the link to nominate someone who you think is qualified.

The Elder and Deacon Boards will review all of the nominations submitted and contact you if they have any questions regarding the person(s) you nominated.

Thank you for taking a moment to give us your recommendation by clicking on the link below.

Qualifications of a Deacon  (1 Timothy 3-8-12)

  • Dignified--He is honorable and respectable
  • Not double-tongued--He does not say one thing to certain people and something else to others.  He is not two-faced and insincere, such that his words cannot be trusted.
  • Not addicted to much wine--A man is disqualified for the office of deacon if he is addicted to wine or other strong drink. Such a person lacks self-control and is undisciplined.
  • Not greedy for dishonest gain--He is not a lover of money.
  • Sound in faith and life--His behavior is consistent with the gospel and his own beliefs.
  • Blameless--His overall character, i.e. his reputation, moral and spiritual maturity, is above reproach.
  • Godly wife--His wife must be dignified or respectable, not a slanderer or a person who goes around spreading gossip.
  • Husband of one wife--Other than his wife, there is no other woman in his life to whom he relates in an intimate way either emotionally or physically.
  • Manages children and household well. He is the spiritual leader of his wife and children

Becoming a Danube Partner--
For many Danube Church is a "home away from home" while people are assigned on jobs outside their home country. Danube Partnership means that you would like to take a step to be more involved with the ministry inside and outside of Danube Church. Partnership also gives the privilege of interacting and voting on church decisions, leadership changes and receiving weekly prayer requests to pray over. It does not mean that you must give up your home church membership but rather that while you are in Budapest, you consider Danube the place to invest your time and gifts. If you would like to become a partner, please tap below and we will send you more information about the process.

Palm Sunday Special Worship Choir--
March 25--We look forward to hosting the Association Free Lutheran Bible School choir as our guest worship team on Palm Sunday, March 25. The choir will have the opportunity to visit and sing at schools, youth retreat centers, and elderly homes, as well as churches and other historical sites connected to Lutheran history and the Protestant Reformation. We know this will encourage our congregation as we focus on the Passion Week of Christ!
